Negligence of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) leading Nigeria Politicians to outsmart Nigeria Electoral Process

IMG_20190215_143348Politicians are desperate people, they will continue to outshine Nigeria’s electoral process if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fail to improve the process. At the just concluded 2019 General Election, they successfully influence Voters (vote buying), Young people (thugs), Uniform Men, Media, Electoral Officers (Academicians & INEC staff) in their favour.

Since 2013 till date, I have experience working as an INEC Ad-hoc Staff (Area Registration Officer I, Presiding Officer (Anambra State)) and Election Observer (for both Local and International Organizations) in Nigeria. The 2011 and 2015 elections show Nigeria is making progress in her electoral process compared with 1999, 2003 and 2007. The 2019 election is taking us backwards compared with the 2015 election. All we want is a free, fair and credible electoral process every time while introducing e-voting or e-calculation can make a lot of improvement and also reduce electoral budget costs.

If INEC fails to step up the electoral process, introduce new techniques, partial or full inclusion of e-voting or e-calculation, block-chain technology and other 21st-century technology in her future election, desperate politicians will definitely outsmart our future elections.

INEC and politicians are major stakeholders in our election, they will also determine voters faith in 2023 General election. What is our faith in the future election?
