The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) with the support of Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) organized Policy Dialogue with Ekiti State Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Investment on its project: Strengthening Civic Engagement an
d advocacy for Effective Natural Resource Governance in Nigeria.
The theme for the dialogue is “Mining Security and the Challenges of Sustainable Mining in Ekiti State”.
The dialogue brought representatives from the State Ministry of Environment, NESERA, State Legislators, Mining Companies, all Mining Host communities, Traditional Leaders, Joint Task Force on Mining, Miners Association of Nigeria, Civil Society Organizations and the media
We discuss and dialogue about risk in mining, ban of drug which will affect miners (labourers) #drugabuse, Security problem in the mining sector, Community Development Agreement (CDA) between miners & host communities, how mining can improve the state economy, we also proffer solutions to the problem identified in the mining sector to make Ekiti a prosperous Nation.
