Stand with Malala International Campaign Activity

On the 3rd of June, 2016, Foundation for Sustainable Health Promotion and Development (FOSHPAD) in partnership with Youthhub Africa organized 1-day sensitization program for participant to advocate for “free” “safe” “secure” and “compulsory” 12 years education for girl child using the Malala Movie Screening in Erio Town Hall, Erio-Ekiti which was supported by Malala through Malala Fund.

The purpose of the program was to increase girl child education in Erio-Ekiti and Ekiti State, in response to observe difference between girl child and boy child in the community and Nigeria. The organization make use of documentary screening which is part of “Stand with Malala International Campaign project” to raise awareness, generate dialogue and discussions among community leaders, parents, and girls about girls’ education rights. The program will also build skills among young women in the community and Nigeria.

The target of the intervention was to reach 250 girls, parents, community stakeholders and other stakeholders which are in this community. FOSHPAD conducted advocacy visit to community stakeholders and some parent who doesn’t value education in the society which led community stakeholders to organize meeting with the identified parent in the community.

During the sensitization program 257 girls were reached, 3 community stakeholders and 18 parents (3 males and 15 females) were also reached. At the end of the program, all participants pledged to work tirelessly to promote free, safe and quality 12 years education for girls in their community for Nigeria to be a Prosperous Nation so as to put an end to child labour, out-of-school children

, child trafficking and other issues girls are facing in Erio-Ekiti for them to live a good life and become a role model in the nearest future.
